Replacement Trailer Connector on a Boat Trailer with a 4-Way Flat but 5 Wires
Question:
I just purchased a boat with a trailer that needs a new adapter. It has 4 poles, but 5 wires running into it. Two of the wires are brown and go into the same plug. I cant find a replacement piece that matches this configuration. Is there such a replacement piece, or do I splice the two trailer brown wires onto the new pieces one brown wire? Also, does this cause any trouble for my towing vehicle which has the standard 4 pole, 4 wire plug?

You have what is called a wishbone harness. The running light circuit is split at the connector. This is so you do not have to run a jumper wire from the running light on one side over to the other side. For a replacement you can use # A35W42B.
A wishbone harness will work just fine with a standard 4-Way flat harness on your vehicle.
