How to Install Hangers for Curt Weight Distribution with Storage Box in the Way

Question:

Hello, I have a Curt trunnion style hitch, similar to Item # C17341. Issue I'm having with my new trailer is that there is not enough distance from the hitch where the weight transfer arms install into the hitch and the location on the trailer where the end of the arms would attached to the trailer frame. I have a storage box on the front of the trailer and that is taking up space on the front, just behind the jack. My question - does Curt offer shorter arms, or is it possible to drill new locating holes for the chain u-bolt ? Ill try to get a picture to show the issue I'm having. Thanks in advance !

The problem you are having is actually not too uncommon since there is a wide variety of trailer designs on the market. To remedy your situation you can simply install the Curt Bolt-On Chain Hangers # C17005 to give you the correct positioning for the trunnion arms on your Curt Weight Distribution System # C17341. These chain hangers bolt directly to your trailer frame so you don't have to have room on top of the frame for the clamp-style hangers like what you currently use.
