Clearance Needed To Use Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Adapter for Recessed Ball
Question:
I have a flathead gooseneck. I measured the clearance from top of flathead to base in the well and it is 3.5 inches. Will the Demco DM8550046 hitch work? I read you needed 4 inch clearance just wasnt sure if that was an absolute number.

The Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM8550046 is an excellent option that is designed for flatbed vehicles with a recessed gooseneck hitch. That said, in order to be compatible you need to verify that the size of the opening around the hitch ball is at least 8" long x 5" wide and that the hitch ball sits no more than 3/4" below the bedfloor when measuring to the top of the hitch ball. The depth of the cutout is not relevant so long as both of the above criteria are met.
