Can Roadmaster Base Plate Arms from a 2008 Jeep Liberty Fit a 2012 Chevy Sonic
Question:
I currently have this system installed on my 2008 Jeep Liberty but am getting ready to trade in the Jeep for a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. Question is: Can I just order the base plates that attach behind the Sonic grill- without the arms that into them and twist to lock since I already have those?

Like the base plates that attach to the vehicle frame, the arms are also unique to the system and vehicle so the old ones would not work with the new vehicle. Base plate kits are not available without the arms.
In addition to the base plates, you will need a compatible tow bar. The base plates for the 2012 Chevy Sonic are EZ style base plates compatible with all Roadmaster tow bars. If you do not have a Roadmaster tow bar there may be an adapter that will work.
If you need safety cables you can use # RM-643. For lighting on the Sonic the easiest system to install is a magnetic harness, # RM-2120.
Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Even Brake # RM-9400. This is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. Proportional systems are the safest way to stop and they reduce wear and tear on both vehicles.
I have included a link to our series of FAQ articles on flat towing for you. You will want to consult the vehicle owners manual to determine if you can flat tow this vehicle and on the proper procedure for flat towing.
