Can Prodigy P3 Replace 2018 Ram 3500 Factory Integrated Brake Controller

Question:

Having issues with the original trailer brake controller on my truck (2018 Ram 3500). Would the prodigy brake controller be able to be installed? I have read that I might need to take to dealer so they can reconfigure it but i do not have enough time to do that. I need hit the road early tomorrow. Please help

I apologize if this information is coming to you a bit later than expected, but I'm happy to answer your question.

You can certainly install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 along with the custom adapter # 3024-P for your 2018 Ram 3500 without requiring a trip to the dealership. The P3 controller will connect to your truck and apply your trailer brakes without issue.

That being said, your Ram will likely flash an error code until the factory controller is disabled (reconfigured) which is done by your local dealer. So, as long as you don't find the error message too distracting, you can hit the road and set aside a later time to get that reconfigured.
