Does the Solar Panel Get Routed Through the AC/DC Distribution Panel And Then To Batteries
Question:
I am replacing an existing panel with a new PD4135K and I have a free standing solar panel that I would like to be able to connect to an SAE plug to keep the 12V battery charged when boondocking. The solar panel has a built in charge controller. I was wondering if I should just connect the solar panel directly to the battery or is there a way to add the feed from the solar panel to the PD4135K. Or do I need to add some kind of isolator like a Renogy unit.

The solar panel would get connected directly to the battery and not run through the ac/dc panel such as the Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center with AC/DC Panel and Converter/Smart Charger part # PD4135K that you are looking to use as a replacement. The built-in charge controller on the solar panel would then regulate against overcharging or at least it should if functioning properly. Therefore, there would be no integration from the solar panel into the ac/dc distribution panel.

Is the PD 4135K compatible with a DC to DC converter such as one designed to charge the deep cycle battery while driving? Would the outputs from each converter need to isolated from each other?
