Troubleshooting Brake and Turn Signals not Working on a 1998 Jayco Camper
Question:
All the lights work on my camper except the brake and turning lights. Have you got any ideas as to what the cause is or how to fix this problem.

The first place to start is the trailer connector that is on your tow vehicle. You will want to test the brake and turn circuits of the connector for voltage when the brakes/blinkers are applied. Check out the video I attached that shows how this is done. You may need a circuit tester like our part # PTW2993 to do this.
If there is the correct voltage on the connector then you know the problem is in the trailer and you should first check the connector for corrosion and clean as necessary. The next most likely situation is you have a ground problem. Check the condition of the ground strap by making sure it is connected to a clean metal surface. This is the most likely problem.
If that is not it you will want to trace the wiring back fixing any cut or exposed wires as you find them.
