Recommended Tire/Wheel Combo For Trailer That Weighs 18,000 lbs
Question:
Looking for a good 16 inch ST 235/85r16 tire with 4400 lb rating , some thing with at least a 81 mph speed preferably higher as we push this speed when we travel. I am also not against going to a 17.5 or 19.5 tire/wheel combo , I am tired of blow outs tearing up trailer. 2 torsion 7000 lb.axles,, 16,000 lb GVWR. Loaded Im about 18,000 lbs of trailer weight, about 4,000 of this weight is on rear axle of truck. so trailer axle weights are right about 14,000 lbs.. Lug pattern is a 8 x 6.5. And I didnt look at hub dia. . Thanks for any products you may have or know of.

The highest weight capacity rated ST235/85R16 tire with a 81 MPH speed rating we have available is the Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Tire w 16" Viking Aluminum Wheel part # A16RG8BMMFL which can handle 4400 lbs. However, you will be overloading the tires if your loaded weight is 18,000 lbs. A lot of blow outs are caused by heat build up when the trailer is overloaded. If your GVWR is 16,000 I recommend to not exceed that to avoid blow outs.
