How to Determine Correct Length of New Trailer Axle
Question:
Hi, I have bought an old trailer but the axle needs replaced, I have no idea what axles I need, my Dad has stripped it down to replace the old wood but then noticed the wheel is bent. The box is Width 4.1 x Length 5.1. Any idea? Thanks

I do have an idea of how to determine the correct length of axle you need for your trailer, and it will be based off of a pretty easy measurement you need to take.
To get the right replacement axle you will need to know the dimensions of your current axle's hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center as in the diagram I have added. For example the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with Standard Spindles # T20BTR-6048 has a 2,000 lb capacity and measures 60 inches from hub face to hub face and 48 inches from spring center to spring center.
You do have another option, the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System, which are simply bolted or welded so you do not have to worry about finding an axle that meets any specific measurements such as the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # A20RS545.
I've added a link to video reviews of these parts, as well as a link to our selection of axles for you to check out.
