SumoSprings for KZ Sportsmen Dual Axle Travel Trailer

Question:

Will these spring helpers work on a 2016 KZ Sportsmen Travel Trailer. Double axels. 5800 lb GVW.

The SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # TSS-107-40 are designed for single axle trailer applications, so for your tandem axle travel trailer, you'll just need two of these kits.

These SumoSprings will fit your 2016 KZ Sportmen travel trailer as long as each of the axles is rated between 3,000 lbs and 5,000 lbs and they are overslung, where the springs sit on top of the axle. If your springs sit below the axle, which is the more common setup, you'll want to use two of part # TSS-106-40, designed for the same 3,000 lb to 5,000 lb capacity axles.

Note: the overall height of the kit (spring+bracket) is 7-3/4 inches, so the distance between your trailer frame and spring must be at least that much to install the kit without needing to partially compress them to get them installed. The springs can be engaged constantly so they could be installed with the axle hanging and then compressed, but to get the best results you'll need at least 5 inches, so they're not compressed at the full 80 percent. Otherwise, it's permissible to cut a coil or two to make them fit inside the space you have available as well.

The SuperSprings # TSS-106-40 will work great for your trailer!

@ChrisR I have a 2006 Tundra which I want to pull a travel trailer that would be 15% below my tow max and just 3% below my cargo carry capacity. Would I be better off with Timbrens, Sumo's or the Road Master spring helper? Thanks for your help!

@RichardK I'd go with the Timbren # TTORTUN4. It will give gradual help as you load your pickup down and it offers more of a firm support than the SumoSprings.
