Troubleshooting Running Lamp Circuit on Pop Up Pulled By 2001 GMC Yukon

Question:

Hi there....my signals work, brake lights work, but no running lights on my 1999 Coleman Taos pop up camper...maybe its a fuse? Not sure how to figure out what fuse might be connected to the running lights... Any ideas? Thank you kindly

First thing you'll want to do is determine if the problem is on the vehicle or the trailer. If you can try the pop up with a different vehicle or a different trailer with your Yukon, that's the easiest way to determine where the problem lies. If that isn't feasible, use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 on the trailer connector with the Yukon's headlights on. If you don't get a signal on the pin in the 11:00 position with the headlights on, then the problem is on the vehicle. The trailer parking (running lamp) fuse is in the box under the hood, in the location shown in the diagram I've provided. If the fuse is blown, you'll need to trace the running lamp circuit on the trailer to locate and repair the short that caused the fuse to blow, or you'll continue to blow fuses.

If the running lamp pin on the trailer connector tests okay, then you'll want to trace the running lamp circuit on the camper from the trailer connector back to the lamps. Look for corrosion, loose connections or cracked or worn insulation on the wire and repair as needed. I'll link you to some articles that will assist in your troubleshooting.
