Can I Slide Topper be Used on a Slide Out with an Awning?

Question:

I have a cougar 34tsb with an awning on the slide. I would like to put a slide topper on that slide but where I bought the trailer they said a slide topper couldnt be put over the the slide awning. Is that true because I saw your video with the jayco pinnacle slide topper and the one slide had an awning on the slide like my trailer

Thanks for the question! When adding a slide topper there are time we can put these on a camper that has an awning already on the slide and times that we can't. In your case there isn't the 4" of room we would need to put it on. The topper requires that brackets be put on the top right and left of the slide below the trim flange that sticks out slightly from the slide. It appears that on your Keystone Cougar 34 TSB that the awning is at the very top edge of that topper (so it can clear the windows) and will block the mounting points you need for the topper unfortunately.

So short story is it can install above an an existing awning as long as there is enough room for the brackets but in your case it appears there isn't.
