What Causes Tie-Bracket To Bend After Installing Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer Ford F-53

Question:

2002 f53 class a motorhome. I installed the unit then two weeks later uninstalled as the stabilizer twisted at the torsion bar ubolt connection. No damage to anything other than the bracket, that twisted slightly and i will have it straightened prior to reinstalling. The videos that i watched ALL show the main mounting bracket connected at the springs on the PASSENGER side. My instructions recieved with the parts are for the DRIVERS side. Is it right to connect on the drivers side for this unit or is that what caused the concern? Thank you

In regards to the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer part # RM-RBK13-RSSA, the chassis bracket which is the larger of the two will be installed on the passenger side preferably but can be installed on the driver side as well. That said, I don't think this is the issue you are having. Please note, you will need to have the wheels perfectly straight prior to installation and the vehicle needs to be on the ground. If the vehicle is out of alignment then that could cause the tie-bracket to twist. I recommend installing the the tie-plate, take a very short trip around the block then come back under the vehicle, loosen the u-bolts and let the spring put the tie-bracket when it should normally rest.

If the tie-plate bent then chances are it was weakened so you really ought to please this to save yourself more trouble down the road, the Custom Mounting Brackets for Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer part # RM-RBK13 is what you need for this.
