Fit of Advantage Roof Cargo Bag on 2012 Jeep Compass

Question:

Will this bag fit a 2012 jeep compass? it has the side rails running front to back only. If not, is there a bag that would work without the crossbars? Thank you, Frank

The Advantage Cargo Bag you referenced, part # HE3021 can be used on the roof of your Compass, and would be able to attach to the side roof rails, providing that they are actually rails that offer tie down points, and not merely flush mounted tracks in the roof. A flush mounted rail would not offer a secure place to attach the bag.

The bag is 38 inches wide, so you will need to have at least 38 inches of available space between the side rails on your roof.

If the rails you mention are actually flush-mounted tracks, you will need to install crossbars, using the following parts:

47 inch SquareBars, part # TH712200
Thule Podium Foot Pack, part # TH460R
Vehicle specific fit kit, part # THKIT3097

Before installing a roof bag, make sure that the surface of the roof and the bottom of the bag is absolutely clean and free of grit to reduce the chance of your roof being scratched.

A tire-mounted step like part # HE4040 would make accessing your roof bag easier.
