Shank Recommendation for Husky Centerline System to Provide 6-1/2 inch Drop

Question:

Hi, Question about Husky WD shank . I have a Husky HT32217 #8000 WD trunnion hitch. I have bought a new truck and took measurements and it looks like I will need more than the stock shank that came with the HT32217 which is stated as 1 1/4inch . I was looking at the HT31518 shank with says it has 6 1/2inch but upon comparing measurements of my stock hitch to the measurements shown on the page, the HT31518 measures out to be the same shank. I was given the link to the info on how to measure trailer hitch and as stated with my preliminary measurement I may be in need of greater than 1 1/4inch . How is it that the shanks measure the same but one has a stated 1 1/4inch and the other 6 1/2inch ?

You are correct the Husky weight distribution shank part # HT31518 is not capable of a 6-1/2 inch drop. For that much drop you'd need a shank with considerably more drop like the part # FA92-02-4315 which you'll be able to see in product pictures has quite a bit more drop to the shank.

This is a Fastway shank which is a different brand from Husky but thankfully the WD manufacturers decided to make the heads of their systems interchangeable with other brand shanks by making them to same sizes which is what allows this shank to work for you.
