Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2012 Lexus RX 450 H

Question:

Is this bike rack the best option for clearing the top spoiler of the vehicle? I thought the TH9001 was supposed to fit, but the spoiler seems to be in the way. Must have something that will not scratch up the vehicle because it is leased. Was hoping not to have to invest in a trailer hitch, but my husband thinks that the hitch would be safer and better for the car.

The spoiler on your 2012 Lexus RX 450h is going to prevent a trunk mount bike rack from being installed. The best option would be a trailer hitch. However, you will need to consult the lease agreement and the dealership from which the vehicle was leased to determine if you can install a hitch.

If you can install a trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite hitch # 75676. There is no drilling to install the hitch but you would need to trim or remove a rubber air deflector/fascia to install the hitch. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.

For a trailer hitch mounted bike rack, I recommend the Swagman Titan, # S63400. It comes with anti-sway cradles, the ability to tilt, and an integrated cable lock. I have included a link to a video review for you to view.
