Question:
My truck has yellow, green, brown and black. The pig tail has yellow, green, brown and white. Does the white and black go together?

It's common for vehicle manufacturers to use black wire for ground. So, to install a simple 4-Pole pigtail, like # 18002, on your 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup, you'll want to splice the black wire on the truck with the white wire on the 4-Pole pigtail. This will only work properly if the truck originally came with a tow package plug.
Otherwise, you'll need to install a Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit with 4-Pole Connector, like # 119178KIT. Because the brake and turn signals on your truck are sent along separate wires (3-wire system), a converter is required to work with a standard 2-wire system on the trailer.
