Ladder Rack Recommendations for a 2012 Dodge Ram Quad Cab with Low Clearance
Question:
How tall is the ladder rack from the truck rails to the top of the ladder rack. I will be parking the truck in my garage and I only have 33 inches from the truck rails of my ram to the highest point of the garage door opening. How far does the ladder rack extend over 2012 ram quad cab 1500.

Expert Reply:
The Thule Xsporter Pro Ladder Rack, # TH500XT, measures 28-1/2 inches from the bed rail to the top of the crossbar. The load stops will extend another 5 inches above that, so this may not be the most ideal ladder rack for you.
Instead, I recommend looking at the TracRac TracONE Truck Bed Ladder Rack, # TH91000, which has a higher load rating at 800 lbs and it is only 26-1/4 inches tall to the top of the crossbar. The load stops are 3 inches tall giving you a total height of 29-1/4 inches.
I have attached the installation instructions for you to check out.
