Comparing Timbrens and SumoSprings for 2020 Ram 1500

Question:

Hi! Adding jounce springs to my rear axle for more support. Have some sag with loaded bed, occasional trailer. Looking for a good strong setup. Wondering if you could compare the sumosprings and timbrens? one a better option? Thanks.

Both the SumoSprings # SSR-307-47 and Timbren # TDR1500DQ for the rear axle of your 2020 Ram 1500 are jounce-style springs, but they do differ quite a bit as to the type of support they actually provide.

If the bed on your Ram is pretty consistently loaded then the Timbren Rear Suspension System # TDR1500DQ will be the better option, as these springs are made up of a more robust Aeon rubber and consequently feature a much higher weight capacity of 8,600 pounds. They will do a better job of reducing that sag and creating a smoother ride under load.

On the other hand, if you just occasionally have a loaded bed, sometimes tow, but more often ride relatively empty, the SumoSprings # SSR-307-47 will be the best route. These springs are a bit softer than the Timbrens, so they allow for a more comfortable ride when you aren't actually hauling anything in the truck. They feature a lower weight capacity of 1,500 pounds.

I have attached a couple video reviews on these products along with their install manuals that you can take a look at.
