Best Size Powered Vent Fan for a Camper Conversion Van

Question:

I am looking for the best fit in a rooftop vent fan for a 2010 Ford Transit Connect. I love all the features of the MaxxAir 10 speed w/remote but it seems like overkill for the size of the Transit and the 14x14 size along with the lifting vent is a concern for my rooftop clearance beneath a cargo box and cargo basket set up. The Ventline looks like a good compromise but I am seeing reviews about the noise and durability of the motor. Are there any vent/fan systems smaller than 14x14 but bigger than the 6inch Ventline? My concern is that the Ventline is only rated up to 100 cfm. Something around 8-10inch and 500-600 cfm seems like it would be perfect for the Transit Connect.

The Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent part # VP-543SP is going to be the best option they make for a camper van due to it's size. The only other option you have for a vent fan is the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent part # MA00-07500K or one similar which requires a 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" cutout. In regards to durability, there shouldn't be too many concerns as there is after all a two year warranty. The vast majority of the reviews are positive so there's no need for a few bad apples to spoil the pot for you. I can't exactly attest to the noise since there is no decibel rating but the larger fan you go with, the louder it will be so the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent is likely much louder. If needed, you could also install multiple vent fans but this is the most popular option we see for these conversion vans.
