Is the Electric Jack w/ Footplate a Good Replacement for An Old Atwood 2,500 Jack With Bad Motor

Question:

Hi, I have an Atwood a frame jack and believe the motor/clutch is going out. The motor is 71119, I’m trying to decide wether to replace the motor or whole jack. The jack is rated for 2500# I believe and you sell a jack EJ-3520-BBX with a 3500# rating for much less than replacing the motor on the Atwood. Is there a reason I shouldn’t just replace the whole jack? Are Atwood’s a superior jack? Thank you for your help. The tongue weight on the travel trailer is roughly 1000#.

The Electric Jack w/ Footplate part # EJ-3520-BBX is an excellent option to replace an Atwood Electric Jack at a very good price as well. It has a 3,500 lb weight capacity which would be plenty for you needs and the higher rating you go with, the longer the jack will last as it does not have to work as hard. The Atwood Electric Jacks are quality options but most of the older models are hard to get replacement parts for. If you have an older model you would be better off to just replace it as there could be something next week that breaks and there is not an option to replace that part.
