Expert Reply:
The Reese Universal 5th wheel install bracket/rail kit, part # RP30035 will indeed require drilling into the frame of your 2016 Silverado 2500.
For a no drill application, check out the Reese Custom Bracket Kit, part # # RP50066-58. According to Reese, the universal kit takes around 6 hours to install, while the custom kit will only take about 4 hours.
If you're interested in installing a trailer connector in the bed of your truck, you can easily do so using # 50-97-410.
I've linked to the parts mentioned above, as well as to some installation videos and installation instruction files that you might find helpful.
