Replacement 2-1/2 Shank For Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System and Figuring Rise/Drop Needed

Question:

I recently upgraded my tow vehicle from a 2006 dodge ram 1500 to a 2019 dodge ram 2500. I currently have the e2 weight distribution hitch setup with the 2inch shank. I now have the 2 1/2inch receiver. I need a new shank for 2 1/2inch receiver but not sure what product to get to make sure I have enough since this truck sits higher. I was hoping someone might have the knowledge of what shank would be right for my situation.

It is possible to switch out the 2" weight distribution shank to a 2-1/2" shank like part # EQ90-02-4900. To figure out the amount of rise/drop you may need in a weight distribution shank you would need to do some measuring. I recommend to measure from the top of the hitch on your truck to the ground. Then measure from the bottom of the trailer coupler to the ground.

The difference between those two measurements is the amount of rise/drop needed. If your coupler height is greater, you need a rise. If your hitch height is greater you need a drop. You need to be within 2" of level to be safe.

We have 3 options for 2-1/2" shank replacement for the Equal-i-zer systems:

part # EQ90-02-4700 offers 7" of rise 3" of drop

part # EQ90-02-4800 offers 8" of rise 4" of drop

part # EQ90-02-4900 offers 10" of rise 6" of drop
