The NC code that you are seeing on your P2, # 90885, means that there is no trailer connected or that it thinks there is no trailer connected. There are a few reasons this could be occurring:
1. Trailer not connected to tow vehicle.
2. Trailer connected with open circuit on brake line.
3. Trailer connector disconnected or corroded.
4. Loss of trailer brake magnet ground.
The most likely is that there is corrosion build up in the vehicle or trailer side connector that needs to be cleaned out. Corrosion can also build up behind the connectors where the wires attach. This can cause the open circuit to the brake line.
You can also check to make sure the trailer brake magnets are attached to clean bare metal surfaces on the trailer. I have included a link to the installation details which has a section on the different messages the controller can display.
