Can I Use Curt 2-Inch Dual Receiver Adapter # D-192 to Tow a 2006 Honda CR-V and Carry Two Bikes

Question:

We want to tow our 06 Honda CRV and carry our two TREK bikes on a Kuat Beta bike rack. Will we be OK weight wise? Also, can we lock the 192 to the motorhome hitch using a standard lock? Will we need the anti rattle lock for the bike rack? BTW the 192 is the first dual receiver we have seen where both tubes have lips. Thanks!

I did a little research and found that based on various options your 2006 Honda CR-V will weigh around 3,300 lbs, which is less than the 3,500-lb limit of the Curt 2-Inch Dual Receiver Adapter, part # D-192. So you would be fine to tow your vehicle if you do not load up the CR-V with more than 200 lbs of cargo.

To use part # D-192, you would have to stay within the total tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds, when using both 2-inch receiver openings. The tongue weight will be minimal when using the bottom receiver for flat towing your CR-V, so you should be able to carry your two TREK bikes on the Kuat Alpha bike rack as long as you maintain the 100-lb weight capacity of the bike rack.

The Kuat bike rack will come with its own hitch lock and anti-rattle device for the bike rack.

You can use a hitch lock like the DeadBolt 2-Inch Hitch Lock, part # 7683, to lock the # D-192 adapter to your 2-inch RV hitch.

I am including a link to a video review of the Kuat Alpha bike rack.
