Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit for 2017 Ram Laramie 1500 Towing Grand Design with Pivoting Pin Box

Question:

A read thru a prior question about using A 5th wheel hitch mounting kit RP50142-58 for a 2016 Rebel with Factory air suspension. I have a 2017 ram 1500 short bed also with Factory air. There was also a recommendation to use an auto sliding hitch. I am looking at a Grand Design Camper 150 series that has the 90 pivot on the trailer it self. Turning Point swivel Pin box, The auto slide is nice to have if I hook up a 5th wheel with out the GD feature. I am not sure when the original question was posted, so I am wondering what else is out there? I have not found a filter to specify Factory air suspension when looking at Hitches. I am a returning customer and I value your advise. If i dont go 5th Wheel I will what to purchase the Weight distro and stabilizer for a class IV hitch

Since you have a pivoting pin box already you do not need a sliding hitch which is really nice as they are pretty heavy and have a lot of moving parts. So you'd want the Reese fifth wheel rail kit part # RP50142-58 which is custom fit for your 2017 Ram 1500 with air suspension. Then you can use a fixed hitch like the Reese part # RP30047 and you'd be set. If instead you end up with a non-pivoting pin box you instead could use the auto sliding Demco Hijacker part # DM8550040 which would give you the clearance you need plus also fits the same rail kit I recommended.
