Can Blue Ox Weight Distribution System be Used in 2-1/2 inch Hitch with or without Adapter
Question:
Im looking at some different WD hitches and wonder if the reducer will down rate the hitch? Ill be using it on a 2014 Ford F-350 SRW and pulling different trailers.

Expert Reply:
The 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch hitch reducers do not cut the capacity of the hitch like some hitch adapters do since they do not extend out past the hitch opening. The other option though is to go with a shank that fits the 2-1/2 inch hitch size directly like the # EQ90-02-4900 which would work really well. Thankfully the weight distribution manufacturers all made the heads of their systems to fit the same standard shank design so this Equal-i-zer shank would work really well and prevent you from needing an adapter.
