Can Gen Y Offset Gooseneck Shock Absorber Be Turned Around
Question:
This Gen Y gooseneck coupler shows that it has a 5 inch offset. My trailer is 3 inches longer than what is allowed by law so can I turn this around to shorten up my overall length of my truck and trailer? I have an 8 foot box on my pick up so cab clearance is not an issue since this is a gooseneck trailer. Thank you,

Expert Reply:
While it is possible, I contacted Gen Y who confirmed they do not recommend this for a few reasons.
The first reason is that it will not give any TORSION-FLEX benefits while stopping or starting and the second reason is that they have not tested it to be used in this manner. If the manufacturer does not recommend it it means it would void the warranty on the product. That being said, they have had customers use it in that way and have had success with it.
Included is a video resource with additional information for review.
