Can the flexible flares be painted with acrylic paint ?

According to Phoenix USA, the # PX52-191 Flexy Flare can be painted, but they don't have any specific advice on how to
do so.I did some research and found that it is possible to paint rubber, but the challenge is in getting the paint to adhere. From what I read, the keys to a good result involve proper surface preparation by making sure the surface is perfectly clean and free of dust or oil and completely dry. Commercial grade marine paint, like what's used on swimming pools or boats will give the best results. When it comes to application, if you're applying more than one coat, make absolutely sure that the previous coat is completely dry before applying the next.
