Can 4,000 lb Leaf Springs be Used in Place of 3,500 lb Leaf Springs

Question:

I have icp tandem axles 3500 bs on travel trailer, I want to replace springs because one side was damaged. can I use the SP-220275 4000 lb springs in the place of the SP-212275 3500 lbs. I am also ordering the K71-652-00 E-Z Flex suspension system. Im doing both sides. The side that was damaged, did not see or feel like I hit anything on last trip but the axle hit the I-beam of trailer and the tires rubbed the bottom of fender and the springs flatten out about 3/4 of inch. the trailer loaded weights about 6000 lbs.

Expert Reply:

The 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,000-lb Trailer Axles # e57SR is 25-1/4" from center eye to center eye, which is close enough to the 25-1/8" center eye to center eye measurement of the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # e54SR that you will be able to use them. You will also need the U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-1.

I have added links to video installs and reviews for you, including of the E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System # K71-652-00 which is going to improve your ride quality for a smoother towing experience.
