Do Bump Stops Need to Be Removed to Install Firestone Ride-Rite Air Bags on 2006 Ford F-53 Chassis
Question:
Should I take the rubber bumper off when air bags are installed? The bumper is mounted on the frame. Above the leaf spring.

Helpful Expert Reply:
If the bump stops on your 2006 Fleetwood Bounder Class A Motorhome are going to interfere with the bags, or are directly in the spots where you're going to be mounting your Firestone Ride-Rite # F2070, they can be removed. With that being said, if they're not going to interfere with installation, you can leave them there to act as a fail-safe in the event that a bag were to rupture or some other type of freak malfunction (this is unlikely, but if they're not hurting anything you don't need to remove them).
