Looking for Brake Controller Compatible with 2015 Ram 1500
Question:
I am trying to install a tekonsha Pod in my 2015 dodge 1500 , I purchased a tekonsha Pod and ordered a connecting cable for it. After hooking it up, it will not work. Do I need a different controller.

Because the brake signal put out by the 2013 and newer Ram trucks is very low voltage, there's a few of the older brake controllers that won't be compatible. The most reasonably priced controller we offer that would be compatible is the Curt Venturer and its installation harness, part # C74VV and the # C51458 wiring harness. The Venturer would work very similarly to the POD.
The Tekonsha P3 you'd looked at, part # 90195 would be an outstanding upgrade. The P3 is a proportional controller, which means that it will tailor the amount of power sent to the trailer brakes according to how quickly the tow vehicle is braking. With a little adjustment, you can set things up so that the trailer and tow vehicle share the braking so that your trailer stops safely, controllably and predictably every time. A time delayed controller like the POD or Venturer will always send the same amount of previously set voltage to the trailer brakes, regardless of whether you're dealing with a quick stab at the brake pedal or a full out panic stop. The P3 is also much more user friendly, and will spell out diagnostic information if there's a problem with the trailer braking system. If you wish to use the P3, you'll also need the # 3024-P wiring harness.
