Trouble Re-Installing Breakaway Pin Back In Switch
Question:
Pin will not go back in , pitting lot of pressure
asked by: Carlos’s
Helpful Expert Reply:
The majority of breakaway pins are keyed which means they can only be inserted back into the switch one way like the Hopkins LED Breakaway Switch part # HM20059 for example. Therefore, most likely you just don't have the pin in the correct position. That said, if the pin is damaged or there is foreign objects inside the switch that could cause issues as well. Please note, it does take a fair amount of force to remove and reinstall the pin back inside the switch.
That said, there isn't any sort of lockout mode that would not allow you to reinstall the pin so one of the above has to be the issue. If all else fails you can replace the switch/pin with the above which has lights to let you know what's going on. If you have a two wire switch you can use the Hopkins Replacement Break-Away Switch part # HM20014.
