Can You Carry Four Bikes On a 2016 Nissan Leaf With Class 1 Hitch
Question:
I have a 2016 Nissan Leaf and was planning on getting Uhaul to install a 1.25inch Sportframe Class 1 hitch, as it appears to be the only hitch that will work for this vehicle. But the Thule 4-bike rack says that it can only carry 2 bikes on a class 1 hitch. Is there an adapter I can use or is there another bike rack that could accommodate 4 bikes on a class 1 hitch? Or do I need to find another hitch solution? Thanks for your help.

I do have an option for you but the maximum number of bikes that can be carried on any class 1 hitch is two. The reason that you cannot carry more than two bikes has to do more with the leverage that the additional two bikes place on the trailer hitch more so than the weight. Therefore, if you want to be able to carry more than two bikes you will need to use the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7221 which is the only option for this. The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver has a hidden cross tube so you won't have an unsightly cross tube to look at and the larger 2" receiver tube opening gives you more bike rack or cargo carrier options to choose from.
I have attached an install photo for you as well.
