Will the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack Work With a Bike Over 45 Lbs If the Other Bike Is Under 45 Lbs

Question:

When I first weight my bike I though it was around 43 lbs, now I find it'd 47 lbs, do you think this will be a problem. The hitch is rated for 45 lbs per bike, my second bike weigh around 32 lbs.

The Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack part # C18085 is only rated for 45 lbs per bike as you mentioned. I cannot recommend you use any bike that weighs in excess of this figure. The total weight of the two bikes cannot exceed 90 lbs but there is still a 45 lbs per bike weight capacity regardless of the total weight of the two bikes.

If you are looking for a similar bike rack with higher weight rating, I recommend the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack part # SA4412B which has a 60 lb per bike weight capacity and also only weighs 22-1/2 lbs whereas the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack weighs 46 lbs.
