Recommended Weight Distribution Shank With Additional Drop For Airstream Towed By 2019 Ford Ranger
Question:
Hello- I have an e2 Trunnion 600/6000 system for my Airstream Sport 16 trailer and I am trying to pair it with my new 2019 Ford Ranger. The Ranger has a very high hitch height so I purchased the Fastway shank that has the most drop. I now have the system hooked up and it returned the front of the truck to the pre-hitched height which is great, however, the coupler height of the trailer level prior to being hitched is 17. Now that it is hitched it is 18 1/2. The manual says anything increase more than 1 1/4inch you should the ball height, however, I already have it at the lowest possible position. Will this be alright, or, is there another shank that can be used with this trunnion system that will provide more drop? need additional drop for my e2 WD hitch on a 2019 Ford Ranger. Can this shank be used with the Fastway e2 system? C17124

It sounds like you are using the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank part # FA92-02-4315 which gives you a 9-3/4" of drop with your Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Trunnion System part # FA92-00-0600. The Curt Weight Distribution Shank 13" Long part # C17124 will give you an additional 2-1/2" of drop that you need to get closest to the height that your trailer manufacturer recommends. We normally say if you're 2 inches within level you are fine but it is in your best interest to follow the trailer manufacturer guidelines and the Curt shank will work well to do that.
