The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1812, that you referenced on our website will fit on your 1997 Nissan Pickup 2wd, however, it will not fit on a 1988 Honda Civic.
If you have the Blue Ox Base Plates, # BX2211, for your 1988 Honda Civic, then no, they will not fit on a 1997 Nissan Pickup.
A few other items that you will need to flat tow your Nissan Pickup, if you do not already have them, are a tow bar, safety cables, light kit and supplemental braking system.
The tow bar that I would recommend is the Blue Ox Avail tow bar, # BX7420, and it includes the safety cables. You could also purchase the safety cables separately with part # BX88197.
For a light kit I would recommend the Magnetic Towing Light Kit, # RM-2120. This kit does not require you to splice into your vehicles wiring and simply mounts to your vehicle using magnets.
Most states require a supplemental braking system when flat towing a vehicle. The Blue Ox Patriot, # BLU37TR, is one of the easiest systems to set up and includes a wireless remote so you can manually override the brakes while in your RV if needed. This is a proportional braking system that will apply the same braking pressure to the tow vehicle as you apply on your RV.
I have attached two help articles on flat towing for you to check out.
A drive shaft coupling is required for you Nissan Pickup to flat tow if it has an automatic transmission. You should also check the flat tow procedures in your owners manual for any restrictions or limitations.
