Question:
I just bought a new Ram 1500 and was wondering what the best gooseneck would be for it.

We have the perfect solution. My recommendation is part # BWGNRK1319. This B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit is specifically designed for your truck. It has a 2 5/16" ball which is extremely common and the nice thing is that it is designed for both the 5.5' and 6.5' beds so regardless of what you've got it'll fit perfectly. It offers a 30,000 lb. gross trailer weight limit and a 7,500 lb. vertical load limit which is more than enough for what your truck can handle. I have installed a lot of goosenecks over the years here at etrailer and have always found the B&W's to go in really easily and always work well. When working with other customers they seem to echo the same sentiment I have about them.
When hauling a gooseneck trailer you will generally need in-bed wiring so your trailer connector isn't hanging over the tailgate of your Ram. I recommend part # 20023, this will give you the ability to wire this in-line with your factory wiring and mount it in the bed of your truck. This way it's easily accessible when you're hauling your trailer. You'll need part # DW05745-10 to make those connections.
If you are concerned about cab clearance between your gooseneck and truck cab, part # BWGNXA4085 buys you an additional 4" of clearance. Also if you ever have the need to haul any light fifth wheels this Companion Fifth Wheel Slider part # BWRVK3400 attaches directly to your underbed gooseneck and takes care of that need as well.
I have attached links to the products as well as videos on them down below. These will help not only in giving you additional detail on each but the installation process for your truck. Safe towing!
