Can Removing Heat Shield Under Truck During Gooseneck Hitch Installation Harm the Truck

Question:

The video indicates that the heat shield has to be removed to get the hitch installed under the bed. Doesn’t the heat shield need to be reinstalled after the hitch is installed? What protects the bed/hitch from the heat after install?

Actually, the structure of the B&W # BWGNRK1016 Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch protects the underside of the bed much better than the heat shield could. The hitch is much thicker and heavier than the heat shield was, so there'll be no worries about heat damage. If you take a look at the instructions which I've linked for you, B&W mentions that the heat shield must be removed.

To install a 7-way trailer connector in the truck bed, I'd recommend part # C56000. If you click the provided link, you can see an install video.
