Recommended Weight Distribution for Colony Cargo 7 x 16 V-Nose Trailer

Question:

This is a V-nose trailer and thus has limited room on the A arms from the coupler. It is rated for 7500GVW maximum loaded weight I have 24 inch to the center of a triangular bracket on each side but there is another 3-1/2 from there to the front of the box available as shown. Truck is a 1/2 ton Suburban the hitch is rated 12k weight distributing with a 2 inch receiver but the truck obviously cant pull that however it is rated right at the maximum loaded potential of the trailer in terms of capacity. I pulled the trailer home empty without weight distribution and it was fine but I'm sure Ill need weight distribution loaded never mind the hitch being only rated for 5k without it. What options do I have for a weight distributing setup that will fit? Thanks!

Thank you for all of the info regarding your towing situation!

For your application I recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex # RP66560 which has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 1,200 lbs and a max towing rating of 12, 000 lbs so it is perfect for your trailer weight. The brackets need to be mounted about 27" - 32" from the center of the hitch ball so I believe they will be able to fit just fine between the 2 bracket that you are talking about.

The only other thing you're going to need is a hitch ball. From the pictures you sent in it looks like you need a 2-5/16" hitch ball like part # 19286.

Something else you might be interested in is a portable tongue weight scale like part # e99044 to help you achieve the recommended 10-15% tongue rating compared to the loaded weight of your trailer.
