The ball mount you need will depend on several factors, including the height of the trailer hitch, the height of the trailer coupler when the trailer is level and how heavy the trailer is.

As a first step, you'll need to determine the rise or drop you'l need. Simply measure from the inside top of the receiver tube to the ground. Then with the trailer level, measure from the bottom edge of the coupler to the ground. The height difference is the rise or drop. If the hitch is taller, you'll need a drop. If the trailer coupler is taller, you'll need a rise. I'll link you to a help article that explains in detail how to do this.

Then, choose a ball mount that has the proper rise or drop for your needs. I'll link you to our selection of ball mounts for 2 inch receiver hitches. Use the filters on the left side of the page to choose the weight capacity and the necessary rise or drop and any special features you'd like.

You'll also need to choose a trailer ball. The coupler of your trailer will have the necessary ball size stamped on the top side of it. Choose a ball with the right diameter (1-7/8, 2 inch or 2-5/16 inches) and the shank diameter that matches the ball mounting hole in the ball mount you choose.
