Mounting Kat's Heaters Vehicle Interior Heater

Question:

After I installed this heater, sat it right side up so as not to plug the air intake, but just sat in on my passenger side floor. I then plugged it in to see if working which is was then came back after about ten minutes to check on it. After this time it had gotten so hot on the bottom, right where the hot air comes out that is started melting the bottom exhaust area. Any suggestions as to why this happened? can it not lay flat on the floor mat? Im afraid to mount it if it gets to hot and continues to melt.

The Kat's Heaters Vehicle Interior Heater # KH37100 does have an internal thermostat so it will shut off if it gets too hot, but it sounds like you inadvertently just placed it in a bad spot. Did you use the mounting bracket it comes with and provide for air flow? I'm not entirely sure from your description how you mounted it but you do need to make sure the bottom of the unit - with the bracket - is how it is mounted.
