Best Value Weight Distribution for 2004 Niagara Camper Towed by Jeep Commander

Question:

Hi, I have a 07 Fleetwood Niagara Camper it is a high wall pop up 19ft overall length, about 3200lb dry weight, about 250lb dry tongue weight I do not know what my loaded weights are. It also has a 5k axle with spring over conversion original was a 3.5k with spring under axle, prior owner replaced axle due to camper bending axle and poorly wearing tires as many do so it sits about 5-6 inches taller than normal. My tow vehicle is a 2010 Jeep Commander with the 5.7 about 5k curb weight. I was originally looking to add sway control to my camper I can tell original owner had a friction bar and I was thinking of just a friction bar setup as well due to experiencing some minor sway this past summer after about 6 trips with it. Most of the time it tows really great and I have been really happy with how it tows, but when windy you have a slight sensation that it is wiggling a little and one one other occasion when a large motor home was passing, I had a far amount of sway. But since looking on your site I am wondering if I should maybe consider a WD hitch with sway control instead due to the weight of the camper. I have been looking at the Husky HT32215, and the Fastway FA94-00-0600, mostly due to cost vs features. I like the idea of the trunnion bars and 4 point sway control on the Husky system, but wonder if the 4 point is more than I need as it seems that is better suited to longer trailers from what I have read on your site. With the Fastway system I have plenty of ground clearance for the round bar and wonder if it is the better option for me. What do you recommend? Is there another system you think would work better or would I be okay with just the friction bar for sway control? I attached a picture of it, this was when we first bought it, the hitch ball was flipped on the shank since this picture so that the camper sits level when towing. Thank you for your advice and recommendations, I look forward to your reply!

Thanks for all the details on your towing setup! You will be the most happy with the Husky Center Line system part # HT32215. This is by far the best weight distribution and sway control for the money so it will do a great job to improve your towing setup and prevent the sway you are experiencing from winds and passing vehicles. The 4 point sway control isn't overkill at all.

If you were on really tight budget the Pro Series friction sway control part # 83660 would help curb the sway but the Husky WD system will do a better job plus give you an improved and safer towing experience since it moves some of the trailers tongue weight up to the front axle of the tow vehicle. This greatly improves how quickly you could stop and also improves handling. The # HT32215 is also the correct rating for your trailer based on the weights mentioned.

I attached a review video for more info on the system for you to check out as well.
