I have a solution for you, but the Rack'em Double Barrel Utility Trailer Tailgate lift assist requires that the trailer side rail height be between 10" and 15", so this is not a good fit for your trailer. Instead, you can use the Gorilla-Lift Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist # GL1 which is compatible with top rails between 12" and 24" from the top rail to the trailer bed. The Gorilla Lift will lift tailgates that weigh as much as 300-lbs, so it's going to be noticeably stronger than the Rack'em.
