Can a Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System be Attached to a 6,000 lb Kingfisher Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a 2500 kingfisher welded aluminum boat on a 6000 lb trailer to be towed by a new 5.7 Litre Toyota Tundra. None of your pictures actually show attachment to a boat trailer . Is this possible? My boat trailer like most other boat trailers, doesnt have the Y frame shape behind the hitch that travel trailers do. Instead the trailer frame goes straight back for 6 feet before side bars come off to attach to the axles another 10 feet back. How would the RP66151 attach?

Yes, you can attach a weight distribution system on a boat trailer with a pole tongue. You will need to use a pole tongue adapter like part # RP58393, on the trailer tongue to attach the spring bar hangers to.

Once you have the pole tongue adapter and spring bar hangers installed you will set up the SC Weight Distribution System, # RP66558, just like you would on an A-Frame trailer.

If your trailer has surge breaks, this system is compatible with the surge brake actuator coupler.

I attached an article we put together on weight distribution that should prove helpful when selecting a properly sized weight distribution system for your trailer. I also added a link to all of the weight distribution systems that are compatible with surge brake couplers for you to select from.

Selection of a weight distribution is done by making sure the system is rated higher than the fully loaded tongue weight of the trailer it will be used on. Keep in mind that any weight that you might add to the bed of your Tundra behind the rear axle will also need to be factored in for the tongue weight.
