Does the computer need to be flashed after the controller has been put in on a 2016 3500 Dodge Ram diesel

If your 2016 Ram 3500 isn't already equipped with the factory trailer brake controller then installing a Tekonsha Brake Controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 using the Plug-In Adapter # 3024-P won't require a trip to the dealer to have the computer flashed. The brake controller will be ready to use as soon as you plug it into the truck.

However, if you are looking to replace the factory integrated controller with this unit, you will likely need to have the dealer flash/reprogram it out of the system so that the P3 can function properly. If this is the case and you'd rather not go through this process (or expense) another brake controller I really like is the Curt Echo # C51180. This plugs directly into the 7-Way at the rear of your truck and pairs to your smart phone via Bluetooth. It completely bypasses any factory brake controller so it's ready to use out of the box.
