How To Obtain Ignition Source for the Flex-a-lite Adjustable Temperature Controller

On a 1998 Toyota Tacoma 2.4 SR5 where do I connect the wire to a ignition controlled switch

The Flex-a-lite Adjustable Temperature Controller for Electric Fan part # FLX31147 as you mentioned will need to be powered via a keyed circuit which is one that only receives power while the vehicle is running. That said, I don't have specific circuits to use for any one particular vehicle but one of the more common keyed circuits on a vehicle is the radio circuit so if this is present that is what I recommend using.
Please note, you could opt to control the fan manually which then means you don't have to find a keyed circuit but rather a constant power source with the Flex-a-lite Illuminated Auxillary Switch part # FLX31148. I have attached a wiring diagram for you as well.
