Replacement for Shurflo 2088-422-174 Fresh Water Pump

Question:

Currently I have a Shurflo 2088-422-174 and I read your recommendation for a HydroMax RV Fresh Water Pump # P25201. Your review stated the pump delivers 3-gallons per minute at 55-psi and will draw 10-amps maximum current. It includes a built-in strainer and check valve to prevent backflow. My question is : My current shurflo uses 7.0 max amps so do I need to do anything different for the HydroMax which uses voltage of 10 amps??

To replace your Shurflo 2088-422-174 fresh water pump, I recommend the Flow Max RV Fresh Water Pump # LC689052 instead of the HydroMax RV Fresh Water Pump # P25201 because the Flow Max will draw a maximum of 8 amps, as opposed to the 10 amps of the HydroMax, and the Flow Max also has a higher flow of 3.3 gallons per minute compared to the 3 gallons of the HydroMax. It does have a little less pressure at 45 psi compared to the HydroMax's 55 psi, however.

That said, you can certainly use the HydroMax, just be aware it will use more amperage. And in regards to the amperage, there isn't going to be anything you need to do different; just be mindful of your total amperage use as you normally would. I have added links to video reviews of both water pumps for you to take a look at.
