Weight of Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Head vs Strait-Line Weight Distribution Head

Question:

I am looking to replace my Andersen WDH because it does not distribute much weight off the rear axle of my F150. I have an F150 and travel trailer with specifications that are identical to those in the question Weight Distribution for 2018 F-150 Towing Travel Trailer with 1000-lbs Loaded Tongue Weight. In your answer you recommended the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW. I am looking for a good quality and performing WDH cost is not the priority but would like one with the lowest possible weight hitch head to minimize how much I would have to lift to slide the hitch head into the trucks receiver hitch. Can you tell my how much the head for that hitch weighs? Is there a different WDH with equal or better performance that would weigh less? Thanks!

The weigh distribution head of the Equal-i-zer # EQ37120ET, which can actually be purchased with part # EQ90-02-1200 has a weight of around 21-lbs, so it's fairly light weight. I think you'll find that most of the weight distribution heads that are comparable to the Equal-i-zer are going to weigh in the 20 to 40-lbs range.

I really like the Equal-i-zer system and think it has some great features, but I recommend going with the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # RP66084 which has a head that weighs in at under 20-lbs. On top of the lighter head, I really like that this system has a dual cam sway control system that doesn't rely totally on tension and will create a less rigid towing experience; because of this it tends to track better during turns and swerves than 4-point systems. The Reese Strait-Line is going to provide you with a light weight weight distribution head that will be easy to move around, as well as providing you with a great towing experience.

The Reese Strait-Line is arguably the best WD system we have and the only one I would tend to compare it to is the Equal-i-zer, but for me, it's going to be the best suited for what you're looking for.
