Trailer Brakes Only Engage with Manual Override and Not When Brake Pedal is Pressed
Question:
Hi we have a problem with our electric brakes it will work at the controller but not at the pedal we have replaced the controller and wiring what else could it be we have also used other vehicles to help diagnose the problem with no luck could it be the brake shoes need replacement

The brakes would still engage even if the brakes were applied, so I think for now you can eliminate that as a possible cause for this malfunction. It would seem to me that the error is somewhere on the stop light switch (red wire) on the Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller # HM47295.
I recommend starting by checking the red wire behind the brake pedal that is running to the brake controller. Make sure it is connected to a circuit that only sees voltage when the brakes are applied and none when released. Most likely the connection is the issue and just reconnecting the circuit will cause the controller to work again. Check the length of the red wire for damage and replace as needed.
